Cindy Lowry, Executive Director
Cindy received her BS degree in Wildlife Science from Auburn University in 1996 and her Master’s of Public Administration from UAB in 2004. After interning with the Cahaba River Society in the spring of 2002, she worked as the Development Assistant for The Alabama Wildlife Center. Cindy has over ten years of work experience in the nonprofit sector and countless volunteer hours. She joined the staff of the Rivers Alliance in 2005 as Watershed Leadership Coordinator and was promoted to Executive Director in 2007. Cindy also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Locust Fork River and the Alabama Wildlife Center and is the Vice-President of the UAB MPA Alumni Association.

April Hall, Program Director
April is a professional civil-environmental engineer. She joined the Rivers Alliance in 2002 after more than four years in environmental engineering consulting. April works on the Alliance’s technical programs such as NPDES permits for pollution discharges, state and national water policy, Corps of Engineers permits under the Clean Water Act, hydropower relicensing, Alabama Water Agenda, tri-state water wars, and stream and watershed restoration. She represents the Alliance on the steering committee of the national Hydropower Reform Coalition and our membership in the Corps Reform Network. April serves on the board of directors for the Friends of Shades Creek, is a volunteer at the Alabama Wildlife Center, and is a member and former board member of the Birmingham Canoe Club.

Elizabeth Salter, Watershed Organizer
Liz Salter is Alliance’s Watershed Organizer, maintaining Alabama's Network of Grassroots Watershed Groups. Liz is an Alabama native and graduate of Jacksonville State University, where she earned her degree in geographic information systems. Liz recently completed a year working for the Cahaba River Society in the Lower Cahaba Basin, serving AmeriCorps.

Katie Robertson-Shaddix, Development Assistant
Katie Robertson-Shaddix is a University of Montevallo graduate with a BA in English. She is currently completing an MA in Composition and Rhetoric at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She joined the Rivers Alliance in 2007 after eight years working in the private sector. Katie maintains the Rivers Alliance's website, creates the design and layout of the Rivers Alliance's newsletter, and maintains the Rivers Alliance's member database. She has been involved with the Birmingham Canoe Club since 1990 and is a volunteer web editor and graphic artist for ADAR, a non-profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
