What is Alabama Water Rally?

Alabama Water Rally is the annual conference of the Alabama Rivers Alliance. For over fourteen years, this event has brought over a hundred individual attendees from a variety of backgrounds together to share, network, and learn.

Participants include agency employees, teachers, elected officials, scientists, lawyers, engineers, concerned citizens, nature lovers, and other eco-minded folks. Conference participants receive professional development training from experts on the newest ideas and innovations in science, community organizing, and environmental policy work.

It's a great opportunity for professional development as well as a chance to get together with eco-minded people to socialize, celebrate our victories, share our challenges, and have a good time. Days are packed with informative education sessions and each night features a different form of entertainment.

Where is this year's conference?

Camp Beckwith is located on Weeks Bay in South Baldwin County, Alabama.

A beautiful bay-side retreat, Beckwith is set on 82 acres of tall pines and landscaped open spaces. It is a great place to study, confer, pray, or relax in attractive and secluded surroundings.

Beckwith is an ideal natural environment for retreat.  The estuary waters of Weeks Bay teem with wildlife. Over 100 different varieties of birds have been sighted here. Nature trails wind through the pine forest.  Only 45 minutes from Mobile, Alabama, and less than an hour from Pensacola, Florida, Beckwith is far enough away to be “away,” yet close enough that valuable time is not wasted traveling.

Gear Sale

This year's conference will feature a gear sale fundraiser. A variety of good used outdoor gear will be offered, including canoes, kayaks, backpacks, tents, and more. The sale will run throughout the duration of the conference and payment will be accepted in the form of cash or check. Do you have an item that you'd like to donate? Items can be dropped off at the Alabama Rivers Alliance office at 2027 2nd Ave North in Birmingham or the Alabama Environmental Center's Recycling Center at 2341 2nd Ave North in Birmingham, or pick up can be arranged. Call or email Katie Shaddix at 205-322-6395 ext 104 or kshaddix@alabamarivers.org with any questions or donation arrangements.
