River Action Day
What is River Action Day?
River Action Day is a day for citizens to meet with their state representatives. It takes place annually on "Rivers of Alabama Day," which is the second Tuesday in April.
The Alabama Rivers Alliance and fellow activists from around the state travel to Montgomery meet with legislators and promote legislation and programs that protect water health. Developed by citizens to improve water quality and quantity through changes in state policy, the Alabama Water Agenda will again be a main focal point of the day’s activities.
Participants receive copies of the Agenda to distribute to their state senator and representative. Environmental leaders provide an update on current environmental legislation and a training session on lobbying.
