I have been looking forward to this one , ALL YEAR ! if you were at last years
Lake Weiss event , You know what a good time we had !
This year we are trying to make things a little easier . Instead of breaking camp every morning , we are going to base camp at Driftwood campground . Our THREE float trips will either begin , end , or both from this campground .
That's right three float trips , Friday, Saturday and short one on Sunday.
Registration starts on Thursday .
Friday , we plan to paddle up to the mouth of the legendary Little River . This is the river that spends most of its time on top of the mountains .
Saturday , we will shuttle up ( flatbed trailer , and carpools) to Hwy #35 in Gaylesville and put in on the Chattooga , paddling back to camp . Along the way , we will stop at Cornwall furnaces . This is a historic site from the Civil War .
Sunday , we will head up to the waterfalls on Yellow Creek and enjoy the icy water coming down from the mountains .
Saturday night , we will have dinner and a Blue Grass band to listen to as we rest our weary bones from that days trip .
Other than Saturday night , everyone is on their own for meals , except breakfast . As usual , the ASRT trailer will be there with its coffee and breakfast .
Camping at Driftwood is semi-primitive . Port-O-Lets , but they do have a shower house and we will have the portable showers , donated by the Sierra Club of Mobile . Ground fires are permitted , but be careful , outdoor fireplaces are even better.
The Paddle trips are on flatwater , with little or no current .
I suggest you come on Thursday , so you make the Friday Paddle trip .

$50.00 For Non-members of the Alabama Scenic River Trail
$35.00 For ASRT Members
$30.00 For ASRT Members and ACA members
