The Friends of Hurricane Creek

Would like to announce their 14^th annual Hurricane Creek Clean-up April 5^th.

The location will be the same as before, Watson’s Bend on Holt Peterson Rd. (Directions to follow)

We will begin around 9:00 A.M. with canoes leaving around 9:30. Come early if you want to register for the canoe trip. Road cleanup will begin at 9:00 and continue until around 12:00.

We will have our usual chili cook-off with judging starting at 12:30. Bring your favorite recipe of at least 1 gallon of home made chili. Not only will you be helping feed the volunteers but you just might win!

We will have a silent auction and door prizes for volunteers and the community to enjoy.

Come on out and enjoy a beautiful day on Tuscaloosa’s Crown Jewel, Hurricane Creek. This year’s event will coincide with the spring bloom of native azalea, Mountain Laurel, and many other wild flowers. We (hopefully) will also have a bumper crop of wild blue berries and huckleberries for picking if timing serves us right.

From the University of Alabama, take Jack Warner Pkwy to Crescent Ridge Rd. Turn Left then immediately Right at the stop sign. This is Alabama Ave. Follow Alabama to the fork (about 200 YDS), take the right fork. Here it becomes Holt Peterson Rd. Follow Holt Peterson to the cleanup site about 1 mile from fork.

From I-59, take the McFarland Blvd exit turn toward the West on Hwy 82W, Follow 82 to the Holt Exit. Follow signs to Holt, VIA Jack Warner Parkway; follow above directions from Jack Warner to cleanup.
