Alabama Rivers Alliance Executive Director Elected to Board of National Water Protection Organization

Birmingham, Ala. Alabama Rivers Alliance Executive Director Cindy Lowry has been elected to the board of directors of Clean Water Network, a coalition of more than 1,200 public interest organizations across the country, representing more than 5 million people, working to implement and strengthen clean water and wetlands policy. Their board of directors consists of notable conservation leaders across the United States who have made it their life’s work to protect water.

“It’s an honor to be elected into this position,” Lowry said. “National policy can often impact Alabama’s rivers and waterways as much as state and local policy.  I am proud to serve as a voice for Alabama on the board for this national partner organization that is working so effectively to influence clean water policy,”

Lowry has served on the staff of the Alabama Rivers Alliance, Alabama’s statewide water protection organization, since 2005, acting as Executive Director since 2007. She is a native Alabamian and has over a decade of experience working in the nonprofit conservation sector.
